Plaza Mexico annually celebrates Mexican Independence day on September 15 as part of Fiestas Patrias. The event includes a civic ceremony featuring the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles in which both the US and Mexico flags are honored. The much-anticipated event not only initiates the beginning of National Hispanic Heritage Month in Los Angeles but allows those who attend to learn and celebrate the story of their roots.
