Don Benito Juárez, was born in San Pablo Guelatao , Oaxaca , in 1806. Of indigenous extraction, it only spoke zapoteco during great part of its childhood.

Later, Juárez studied Right in the Institute of Sciences and Arts. He was regidor of the City council of Oaxaca in 1831 and delegated local one in 1833. .

Benito Juarez, promulgated in its state the Constitution of 1857 . Minister of Interior named him (1857) and later was chosen president of the Supreme Court of Justice, during the government of president Comonfort. When the unknown Comonfort the Constitution of 1857, and giving a coup d'etat, jailed to diverse citizens, among them Juárez. This act of Comonfort unleashed the War of the Reformation.

To the released being (11 of January of 1858), Benito Juarez, assumed the presidency in Guanajuato by law ministry. In 1859 July, with support of the liberal group, it sent the Laws of the Reformation, that declared the independence of the State respect to the Church, the law on civil marriage and civil registry.

When concluding the War of the Reformation with the triumph of the liberal ones, was elect consitucionalmente to continue in the Presidency (15 of June of 1861).

By its defense of the human liberties, defense that served from example other Latin American countries, was proclaimed "Meritorious of the Américas".

To the triumph of the Republic, Benito Juarez, said in a famous speech: "Mexican: let us direct all our efforts now to obtain and to consolidate the benefits of La Paz . Under its auspices, the protection of the laws and the authorities for the rights of all the inhabitants of the Republic will be effective. That the town and the government respect the rights of all. Between the individuals, like between the nations, the respect to the other people's right is La Paz ".

"We trust that all the Mexicans, aleccionados by the prolonged and painful experience of the communities of the war, will cooperate in the well-being and the prosperity of the nation that only can be obtained with an inviolable respect to the laws, and with obedience to the authorities chosen by the town".

In October of 1867 President of Mexico was reelecto ; he dedicated themselves to organize the economic situation of the country, reduced the army, he organized an educative reform, he ordered to choke the military rises and he faced the division of the liberal ones. One was respectful before the organization of the workers and craftsmen.

In 1871 he was reelecto for the last time like president. It died the 18 of 1872 July.
